Among 52 Shree Vaishnava Mahājanās or Imbattiruvars four Sthānāchāryas or Sthānapatis are appointed by Sri Rāmānujachārya to maintain the temple and Melukote in religious and administation aspects. They are entittled to worship of lord Tirunārāyana, serve the lord and adminstering temple and Melukote city.

Sri Rāmānujāchārya also gave them a particular family name which is recorded in contemporay literatures. The Udayavar Niyamanappadi (ordinace for Melukote temple rituals and administarion written by Sri Rāmānujāchārya) and Guruparampara prabhavam (contemporary history records) records the details of the family. Number of inscriptions of Melukote records the importance of Imbattiruvars and have the signs of Sthānāchāryas in them.

The four Sthānāchāryas are :
  • Sri Yatirāja Dāsar
  • Sri Tiruvananta Pura Dāsar
  • Sri Tirukkurungudi Dāsar
  • Malākāra Dāsar

At the time of sthānāchārya initiation Sri Yatirājadāsar was Sri Vishvaksena bhattar ( c.1080). Sri Yatirājadāsar Sthānāchāryas belongs to Sri Bhārgava Gotra, Jaimini Talavakara sūtra, Sāma veda Shākhā brahmins. It is said they are also decendents of Acharya Chanakya gotram.

Thus Sthānāchārya Sri Yatirāja dāsar family is settled in Melukote and rendering Avicchinna Kainkaryam of Sri Tirunārāyana and Sri Rāmānujar. They are also doing the worship of Sri Dakshina Badarikāshrama and Gavigal Anjaneya swāmy temple.

Apart from that they are engaged in the Adhyayana, Adhyāpana of Veda, Vedanga, Āgama, Divya prabhandham in general and Sri Vishishtadvaitha in particular. They had their own privilages earlier in the Melukote city and Temple but now they are having limited privilages due to change of powers in the state and central governments. But the family rights are preserved as intended by Ācharya Sri Rāmānujāchārya.

After many generations great personalities like Sri Narasimhachārya his son Srinivāsa Iyengar and Smt Tirumalamma, his son Sri Narasimhachar and Smt Rangammanni, his brother Srinivasa Narasimhachar his son Sthaneekam Nagaraja (Shesha) Iyengar renderd their selfless service to lord's of Melukote.

Many social services from the family were introduced by Sthāneekam Nāgarāja Iyengar swamy. He was a great visionary, humanitarian and Parama yogi. Now his wife Matoshri Smt. Ranganāyaki is the chief of the family managing the order with her sons and grand childern.
